It’s time for another SEC-C Meeting! YAYYYYY!!!!!
Meetings for this semester will take place Tuesdays at 5:10pm.  The room number will most likely stay the same but in case it doesn’t, we’ll post it here.

The topic of discussion will be announced later in the week.

Thanks to those who came and took part in the TASK meeting today. It went well as it started with a short introduction to our club and the IFS program by yours truly. Followed by some great presentations. I won’t go through the details about the presentations exactly as you’ve probably already read the introductions on the previous posts or directly of the TASK website.

Good news is we managed to make some great contacts at the meeting and hopefully our club will be expanding!

Next week will be our last meeting of the semester and we’re going to be launching a new project we have planned. We need some volunteers to help us get organized and setup the event for the middle of next semester. Look forward to seeing you then.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately we were denied approval to subsidize a bus for the trip to TASK.

But the good news is we’re still going! Just now everyone has to find their own way there and back. It’s fairly simple:

Near Queen’s Park subway station.

Directions are fairly straight forward, either take the subway down or drive. Feel free to coordinate carpooling amongst yourselves. Roy and I will be driving down at about 4:30 or 5pm from school if you would like follow us please e-mail one of us and we can leave together.

Look forward to a short keynote from Roy and many networking opportunities with leaders in the industry around Toronto.

Toronto Area Security Klatch

SEC-C is glad to announce we are subsidizing a shuttle service to the TASK meeting on Wednesday, Nov 26 (Pending expense approval by Seneca!).
The bus is planned to leave at 5 PM, so we can make it in time. The event starts at 6 PM till 9 PM, thereafter the bus will head to Seneca for those who need to get back to the university.

At TASK there will be two great speakers, the topics deal with a real case study of how much some ISPs can really affect SPAM levels, the second topic will be conducted by consultants from Security Compass, which I personally vouch for. Overall, we very much recommended you attend, and it is a great opportunity for you guys to practice those ‘networking skills’.

For today’s meeting we got a great talk for you guys. The topic deals with ‘low-tech hacking’ and lock-picking. Very cool stuff so make sure you attend, and invite your classmates!
